Much traveled in the Midwest

The last 30 days’ travel:
- Champaign -> Chicago -> Champaign
(picking Sheena up from the airport) - Champaign -> St. Louis
(meeting the folks) - St. Louis -> Champaign
(back for a night) - Champaign -> Kokomo, IN
(Sheena’s training seminar at Delphi) - Kokomo, IN -> Champaign
(Document Modeling final) - Champaign -> Kokomo, IN
- Kokomo -> Indianapolis
(one night at The Villa Inn B&B) - Indianapolis -> Chicago
(one night at the Palmer House) - Chicago -> Champaign
(back for the start of Summer I)
And now I’m in St. Louis again for Butler and Megan’s wedding. Thank goodness I’m driving a fuel-efficient little Honda — I’d hate to imagine how much I’d have spent on gas were I driving something like my folks’ old Avalon.

That’s crazy! I’ve probably logged more miles than you have in the last month, but you’ve probably logged as many if not more hours in transit! Mine looks something like this:
Champaign > Chicago
Chicago > Montreal > London (overnight flight)
London > Porto (1 night)
Porto > Vilar do Pinheiro (on foot, one night)
Vilar do Pinheiro > Vilarinho > Porto > Vigo (one night)
Vigo > Santiago (one night)
Santiago > London (three nights)
London > Toronto (overnight flight, spent the night in the airport)
Toronto > Chicago > Champaign (back for a week and a half)
Champaign > Southern IL > Champaign (two nights’ camping, leaving this am and returning Monday)
Champaign > Chicago > Champaign (Cubs game Tuesday night)
Champaign > Rockford > Madison > Rockford > Champaign (two nights at my folks’ next weekend)
Travel is great but exhausting, and I hope you and Sheena had lots of quality downtime together!
That’s nuts! How long did the Chicago -> Montreal -> London flight take? Seems like it could have been a killer with the layover. And spending a night in the airport? Blech.
But the camping should be a blast, and visits to the parents’ homestead are always great.
As far as Sheena’s trip, we had plenty of downtime with each other, and it’s always fun spending time in the car with her — lots of time for good conversations. Once the semester is over, I’m heading over there for a couple of months, which in addition to Shanghai and Suzhou, will include a trip to Jiu Zhai Gou and Cambodia. So you can understand why I’m itchy for the semster to be over already!
Kurt,
Thanks for making it to the wedding. It was great to see you!!
