Coming home

There are some things going on at my company that have kept me from setting a firm date for my return to the States. All night meetings. Unannounced trips and office visits. Negotiations and anonymous all-office e-mails. All sorts of behind-the-scenes shenanigans that are apparently typical of “business with Chinese characteristics.” Someone should write a book about the whole thing — it’d be a business school bestseller….

Back to my point though. I haven’t made plans because it hasn’t been certain to whom I would be transitioning my work. But I hear from sources that everything will be resolved shortly, and I’m hoping to have a ticket for my return in hand by this time next week. Actually, I’m going to buy a ticket home regardless of what happens, but it’ll be a lot smoother of a transition if the issues here at work are all sorted out.

Bottom line? I’ll be home sometime in July.

Update: I’ve just bought a ticket that puts me in St. Louis on July 2. The countdown is on.
