Apologies for not posting anything substantial since I arrived here in Beijing — it’s been a whirlwind first week on the job, divided between working, eating and sleeping, in that order. And as with any new job, I’ve been spending most of my time getting up to speed on the new company and its products while at the same time trying to get a fix on my responsibilities. Lots of information to assimilate, made a little more difficult by the fact that Stacy (my departmental co-worker and the one responsible for getting me over here in the first place) has been traveling in Australia since last Saturday. But not to worry, it’s been a productive first week anyway.

So in a week of meals, I haven’t really been confronted by anything that made me think, “Whoa, no thanks.” That is until last night:

Yes, that’s a straw sticking out of that bone. Yes, I had to try it. No, I did not like it.
